Nowhere captures the spirit of 21st Century London like Clerkenwell. It’s packed with creative people and places; you can eat amazing food from around the world and dance until dawn - or even lunchtime. But at the same time you sense London’s past on every street and when the light is right, it can feel positively Dickensian.
Old Street, with the so-called ‘silicon roundabout’ at its eastern end, stretches almost to Hoxton. Off Old Street you can swim in the new pool at Finsbury Leisure Centre, listen to the LSO at St. Luke’s and eat your way around the world on Whitecross Street.
